Make Room For New Crossover Family Cars And SUVs

With years of big losses due to sluggish sales in the minivan market, more and more manufacturers such as Ford and GMC axed their minivan lines, opting instead to focus more energy and resources on the ever popular crossover vehicle. GMC offers crossovers such as the Acadia, with Ford presenting crossover options like the Edge and Flex.

Here is just a sampling of some exciting crossovers for 2012 to fit almost any budget and lifestyle:

Consumers with families and active lifestyles needed interior spaciousness similar to a minivan, but laid out much more conveniently and easier to maneuver. As a testament to their popularity, sales for crossovers in 2010 accounted for 24.5 percent of all vehicles sold, according to a research group for the industry. Minivans were only 5.4 percent of sales while SUVs were just 6.8 percent.

Crossovers offer capabilities of carrying up to 7 or 8 passengers, along with an array of standard features and options. An example of family friendly options are back seat DVD entertainment systems with wireless headsets to keep the kids happy (and quiet) on long road trips – to crossover SUVs that offer an added benefit of being able to go off-road.

Crossovers have redefined driving the family automobile.
